Frank Mundus: The Man and the Monsters

Currently on view at the East End Seaport Museum, this exhibition explores the life, career, and legacy of the legendary angler Frank Mundus. Photographic and documentary material trace his work as a renowned shark hunter and guide, as well as the complex American attitudes towards sharks he significantly helped shape, both as a public figure and as the inspiration for the character Quint in the 1975 Stephen Spielberg film Jaws.

UpSculpt

Work from artist Cindy Pease Roe and her upcycling project UpSculpt is on view at the East End Seaport Museum in our Children’s Room.

In 2016, UpSculpt started as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to empower action against the crisis of plastic pollution by engaging the public through art, science, and educational workshops. UpSculpt combines upcycling and sculpting to create environmentally conscious art to educate participants on marine plastics, removing refuse from beaches to bring attention to the problem.

Together, artists and audiences can learn about ocean plastics and create unique work that makes a difference.
