Registration
Registration for cruises to the Long Beach Bar Lighthouse is only available online. There is no way to accommodate in-person registrations as we need to develop a passenger manifest in advance of our cruise. It is a standard and important water safety practice to maintain a clear list of all persons aboard. To prevent the waivers, emergency contacts, and personal information that are vital for the safety of our passengers from being confused, incomplete, or uncollected, we request that you register in advance. We apologize if this causes any inconvenience.
Cruises run from 4:30PM-7:00PM every Saturday from June 28th to October 25th. We typically close our registration once we hit our maximum visitor capacity. If a cruise date does not appear on our website, that date has been filled to capacity or has been cancelled for technical or weather-related issues, and will not re-open for registration. We ask kindly that you do not call to inquire about the status of a cruise that is not listed on the website, as it is unavailable.
Parking
There is no dedicated parking at the East End Seaport Museum. However, free parking can be found close by at the Greenport Train Station on Fourth Street and there is ample street parking available in the village.
Check-In
We request that you arrive at the Museum by 4:30PM the day of your cruise for check-in. The boat does not depart until 5:00PM, but our cruise will not wait for passengers who are late, so we ask that you arrive early. Do not arrive with more guests than you have paid for. Please be absolutely sure that your online form has everyone in your party listed. If a passenger or passengers in your party must cancel, please call in advance or let the check-in desk know upon your arrival. As stated above, even if you are a ticket holder, we do not accept in-person registration for people not listed in your original party as filled out in your online form. To avoid conflict, we ask that you ensure all participants have paid their tickets and completed their waivers in advance.
During check-in, you will be asked to sign the same waiver you filled out online. This is a precautionary measure to ensure a redundancy of information collection in the event of internet data loss or physical damage. This is for your own safety in the event of an emergency.
Inclement Weather and Cancellation
Bug Light Cruises run rain or shine. The Museum expects all guests to arrive dressed appropriately for the weather. Foul-weather gear is not available for loan or purchase at the Museum or aboard ship. If you are a visitor in Greenport and do not have proper clothing, Preston’s Marine Supply located at the end of Main Street sells waterproof outerwear and footwear. However, in the event of major weather events that may jeopardize the safety of our passengers during marine travel, the EESM will contact ticket holders on the day of the cruise to cancel by email or phone.
If you have not been contacted by the Museum on the day of the cruise and are expecting inclement weather, we kindly request that you do not reach out to the Museum to inquire about the status of the trip. If you have not been contacted, the trip will be running.
If you are unable to attend the cruise for any reason, the EESM does not issue refunds. The Museum will put the value of your purchased tickets towards the next cruise date that you confirm, either via phone or email, that you are available to attend.
If you are unable to attend a cruise, please let the museum know you will not be coming and what date you will reschedule for. We must have your name recorded on our manifest ahead of time.
Age and Accessibility
Our cruises are open to ages 4 and up. If you have trouble moving up and down stairs, walking, or have general concerns with mobility, the Museum does not recommend that you attend our Bug Light cruises. There are large steps from our docks which must be taken both coming aboard and disembarking, and a staircase that must be taken inside of the lighthouse. As such, our cruise is unfortunately not accessible by wheelchair or any other mobility device.
Personal Food and Drink
Passengers are permitted to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic drink on the cruise, provided they bring their own refuse storage. We request that all guests be courteous of their neighbors and the boat crew, and be sure to keep their seats clean and free of trash. The Museum does not provide any food or drink for passengers. If you are visiting the North Fork for the day, please plan accordingly.
