The East End Seaport Museum offers tours of Long Beach Bar "Bug" Lighthouse off the tip of Orient State Park and a variety of lighthouse cruises in New York and Connecticut waters, departing from Greenport.

Long Beach Bar "Bug" Lighthouse Tour & Ferry
Approximate Time: 2 hours

Very few offshore lighthouses in the world people can visit. You can tour one of them with us! Your ticket includes admission to "Bug" Lighthouse, a narrated tour, and round-trip boat ride to the lighthouse.

Sunset Cruises
Approximate Time: 4-5 hours

This relaxing evening cruise offers spectacular views of four to six lighthouses. This tour includes a local maritime expert as guide, admission to "Bug" Lighthouse, and a deli style boxed meal.

Super Cruise
Approximate Time: 5 and a half hours

Spectacular views of up to 12 lighthouses in three states: New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island.  This annual fundraising cruise aboard a Cross Sound Ferry hi-speed vessel includes full narration by a local maritime expert and a deli style boxed lunch.

Plum Island (Members Only)
Approximate Time: 6 hours

This exclusive free excursion offers members a rare opportunity to visit Plum Island on a guided tour coordinated by the museum and the Plum Island Public Affairs Office. U.S. citizenship and government clearance is required. Space is limited. Please call the museum directly at 631-477-2100 to become a member or verify your membership status.

Haunted Lighthouse Cruise
Approximate Time: 5 hours

This popular special theme evening cruise focuses on the haunted history of nearby New England lighthouses. Experience close-up views of four to six lighthouses, while your guide, the last "Bug" lighthouse keeper's great-grandson who also took part in paranormal studies at "Bug" lighthouse shares his experience. The cruise includes admission to "Bug" lighthouse and a deli style box meal.

"Bug" Lighthouse Halloween Special  -  Adults Excursion

This holiday event in"Bug" Lighthouse features the lighthouse in ghoulish decor. Enjoy wine and cheese, lighthouse ghost stories, participate in the Costume Contest and explore the lighthouse as part our end of cruise season celebration. "Bug" Lighthouse Halloween Special  -  Family Event

The lighthouse will be decked in ghoulish decor for this holiday event. Cruise Information

Cruise maximum group sizes:
  • “Bug” Lighthouse Tour, 90-100 passengers
  • Sunset/Haunted Lighthouses cruises, 85 passengers
  • Super Cruise, 400 passengers

  • Peconic Star Fleet,
  • Super Cruise takes place on a Cross Sound Ferry high-speed vessel.
Vessels offer outdoors and indoors seating, and bathroom facilities.

“Bug” Lighthouse Tours & Ferry are shorter in duration and more suitable for children.  Minimum age on cruises is three (3) years.

Special accommodations:
Any special need should be communicated prior to making a cruise reservation by emailing or calling 631-477-2100 during museum hours. Please note vessel cannot accommodate strollers or wheelchairs. No pets allowed; except for official seeing-eye dogs.

“Bug” Lighthouse Access
The height of the step from the boat onto the dock depends on the tide. Crew Members are present to assist you when needed. Main level of the lighthouse is accessed by a modern sturdy and straight open staircase with railings. Second floor is reached by a turning open metal staircase with railing. Third floor is off-limit to the public as it contains an active U.S. Coast Guard aid-to-navigation.

Deli box meal:
Sandwich, chips, cookies and beverage (bottle of water, glass of wine or a beer). To accommodate dietary needs, buns are seedless and dressings on the side. If you require a special diet, feel free to bring a small personal insulated bag.

Food & Drink:
Coolers are not allowed on the boat due to space limitations. Exception, a celebratory cake for a group joining a cruise can be accommodated, when requested  prior to day of cruise. Water, wine, beer and snacks for sale aboard. No food or drink, except water, allowed at “Bug” Lighthouse.

Cruises and “Bug” Lighthouse tour are non-smoking for the comfort and safety of all passengers.

  • Boat shoes or sneakers – footwear with a rubber, anti-slip sole
  • Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle
  • Rain gear if necessary
  • Camera and/or binoculars with straps

The old seagoing sayings apply to ensure an enjoyable and safe cruise:

  • Don't bring anything you're not willing to lose (Item could end up in the water).
  • One hand for yourself, one for the ship (Hold onto railings. That’s their purpose).
  • Face the stairs (not just climbing, also descending).
